Attempts in the Kitchen
Since we got married and have gotten so many awesome gadgets and things for the kitchen I have been trying to cook more often. Here are a few things I have done lately that turned out:
Peanut Butter Cup Brownies
- Regular Box of Brownie Mix (I prefer Ghirardelli) and ingredients required for that
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- chocolate chips
- peanut butter chips
- Preheat oven to 350 and spray cupcake pan with cooking spray.
- Prepare brownie batter using directions on brownie box. Mix in 1/2 bag of chocolate chips.
- Fill the cupcake cups halfway.
- Cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the brownies are almost done (crisp sides but are not solid in the middle)
- Meanwhile beat together powdered sugar, peanut butter and vanilla until smooth. Place in a ziplock bag and cut a corner off to make a pastry bag.
- Collapse the middle of the brownies with a spoon and pipe in a generous amount of the peanut butter mixture into each brownie. push the mixture down with the spoonso that the brownie mix goes over the peanut butter.
- Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Top with regular chocolate chips and regular chocolate chips.
- Let cool.
Makes 12 cupcakes.
Wheat Beer Bread
Recipe:
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
- 4 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 12 oz bottle of beer (I used Sam Adams Octoberfest)
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- Preheat oven to 350 and spray loaf pan with cooking spray.
- Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and cheese and stir to combine.
- slowly add in beer, mixing to combine.
- Knead dough until well mixed.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and pour melted butter over the top.
- Bake 50-60 minutes (until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean)

Halloween Taters
Happy Halloween! Cam and I carved pumpkins and went to a legendary law school halloween party. I had spent the entire week before making our costumes, but I'm happy with how they came out!

Liz's Wedding
Jason and Liz had a beautiful fall wedding in Cincinnati. I was truly blessed to have Liz as my random roommate in college and then in the Theta house--I could not have been paired with a better person! I am so happy for you two.
Jason proposed to her in a pumpkin patch so these super cute pumpkins at the entrance were very fitting.Monday, October 26, 2009

Where the Buffalo Roam...
Cam's dad and stepmom came up last weekend from TN. We had a great time--we went out to eat one night, went to Buffalo Trace distillery the next day and cooked a big dinner and enjoyed the fire pit (and made s'mores with strawberries=best thing ever), and then went to Alfalfa's for breakfast the next morning. It was great to see them! Here are a few pictures from our Buffalo Trace visit. I still think Woodford is my favorite distillery to tour (gosh it is beautiful), but I loved BT's version of bourbon bailey's and didn't realize they made Sky vodka and Blantons.
The barrels are stored on every floor of the warehouse. Apparently the middle floors produce the best bourbon.Julie and Felix's Wedding
Julie and Felix are so good for each other and this day was a long time coming. The big day was beautiful! Julie was such a gorgeous bride and the church and the Boone Center set a wonderful atmosphere. We are so happy for them and hope they had a wonderful time in Hawaii!
The table settings and colors were perfect for the Boone Center and the fall. She also had pictures of the two of them as the table numbers: it was so cute and personal.
