I'm Official!

Check out what I FINALLY am eligible to get:

A new driver's license--with my correct name. So happy! You know its not a good sign when the lady at the driver's license store says, "Congratulations on your marriage. Oh...you were married in June? What took you so long?" Regardless, its changed with the federal government, with the state, and with UK.

Other great surprise:

I get to have new passport photo! My old passport photo is literally so horrible it is beyond words. It was pouring rain so my hair is slicked back with a few stray pieces sticking to my face, i have on a 1980's neon track jacket (lord knows why) and I was a very awkward 15. Even when officials look at my passport they chuckle. Seriously. So, although the new one isn't fabulous, it is exponentially better than the old one.

On a side note, school officially started last week. My schedule is pretty awesome and my teachers are a lot better this semester--or maybe its just that I'm not in tax anymore--either way, I'm happy!

Sorting Out Who I Am and a Hair Find

So, I went out and braved the snow today to begin my big goal of Christmas break--to finally sort out everything with the social security office to be able to finally change my name. I had initially changed it and dropped my first name through SS but apparently KY wouldn't issue me a driver's license because I had changed my first name. Ugh. So, I finally made it back down to the social security office to fix it. A warning if you have never been--bring a book to have something to do during that wait.
I ended up leaving my first name, making Lauren and maiden name both middle names and adding Cam's last name, leaving me with a total of four names. Take that driver's license people. And, I finally went and closed out my old checking account. Two steps in the process are at least done.

On my way home I stopped by Bed Bath and Beyond and picked up a new blowdryer. I have pretty fine hair, but I have TONS of it--it is super thick and takes me forever to blow it dry.
Cam's mom had a BaByliss Pro blowdryer down in FL and it literally took me half the time to blow my hair dry. It is a great ceramic blowdryer for under $100--especially when you can use their 20% off coupon.

AND, I want to wish Ms. Kristin a very happy birthday! Can't wait to have a joint celebration with her tomorrow!

Why Can't I Just Be Me?

I am giving up on changing my name soon. Ugh, honestly it is the worst process in the world. The social security office let me drop my first name and keep my middle, my maiden and my new last name. I got the name changed with the bank. I went to the drivers license renewal place (its the shadiest place, I swear..) and they won't let me get a license period because apparently I can't just drop my first name, only my middle or my last. I have to legally change my name. I am so frustrated with this whole lengthy process. I actually am fine with my picture, and might as well keep my license.

It is not that bad, right? So now I either have to go back to the social security office and hypenate my maiden and last name legally or schedule a court appearance (it takes months apparently) and legally drop my first name.

Ugh. Another reason to NEVER call your child by their middle name....
