Lazy Weekend and Giveaway Winner

Hope ya'll had a good weekend! I worked on school stuff all weekend and still didn't get as much done as I wanted. Oyi. 

I also looked up some genealogy when insomnia set in and I couldn't sleep. My mom's family in Maryland is fascinating, and I learned all sorts of cool stuff--including that most of the genealogy has been traced back to 1078 and that several of my ancestors were the original founders of Maryland, one was an early Governor, another was George Washington's stepmother, and we raced horses in the first few Kentucky Derbys (I even had a great-great-uncle named Derby).  Clearly, I'm a big nerd, but I love history.  

We also went and looked at homes to start thinking about backups in case the one we like sells before we can sell our home.  It is frustrating to have a house on the market.  I know, I'm whining and it's only been a month, but I like to be in control and make things happen, and I think our house is great and one people would want to buy.  In reality, there is nothing you can do about the situation and you just have to sit there until the right buyers come along.  Okay, enough whining. We found some interesting backups and are still going to see a few more. It makes me more at ease to think we don't have to rush as much to sell--there will be other amazing homes I'm sure.

Thankful Thursday Hodge Podge

 1. Weather. I was a little nervous about class this morning, but I'd thankful I made it home safe and sound before this winter storm begins. 

2. Kindness of strangers.  I have begun interviewing witnesses regarding my Innocence Project case, and I was a little nervous that some of the witnesses would be hostile or uncooperative. Everyone I have spoken to has not only been kind, but has been so encouraging and willing to share their information. Fingers crossed it keeps going like this..

 3. Thursdays. I am thankful that this week is almost over--I have a relaxing girl's weekend planned, so I'm excited it's almost here. 

4. The Fabulous Hali B. My hairdresser is awesome, and I'm so thankful I'm going to see her this weekend to fix up this messy mop.  Is it pathetic I still drive to Louisville? Yes, but trust me, she's worth the trip. 
 


Also, people asked quite a few questions after the vlog.  First, the painting in the background is by an original from local Kentucky artist who is awesome. Her website is here, and I can't recommend her enough.  Second, I got the idea from Jessica, who again is adorable--again, everyone should check out her blog (and vlog of her accent).  I think it's gone viral, so everyone should play along as well :)

1. Veterans. I am immensely grateful for the courage and sacrifice of my step-dad (Marine in Vietnam), my grandfather (Naval coast guard in World War II), my uncle Gary (Navy), my Uncle Matt (Navy), my cousin Stephen (Army in Iraq), my cousin Erika (Army), Cam's brother Ryan (Air Force in Afghanistan), Cam's grandfather (Air Force in World War II), Cam's boss (Marine in Korea), our friend Jason (Army in Iraq), and every man and woman who serve(d) our country every day, at home and overseas. I am also thankful for the families, spouses, and children who stand by their soldiers and also sacrifice for our country. Today, and everyday, I am so appreciative for you.

2. Seminar Paper.  After a late night (and early morning) editing my paper, I turned in the first draft of my paper. Thank goodness I can quit looking at that thing for now...

3. My Health. I saw a helicopter landing at the hospital today, and it made me stop in my tracks and appreciate everything I have.

4. Cancelled Class. My morning class today was cancelled. Best part--he doesn't want to make it up.

5. A Busy Husband.  Specifically, a husband busy raking up the yard, taking the dog on a run, and sweeping the floors. He's the greatest. 

6. Apple Cider. Yum!  

7. Appeals. Because otherwise, I'd be much more upset about Enes.

Such a Lucky Girl--and That Ain't No Joke!

Happy April Fool's Day! 

I woke up to an awesome twitter message saying I had won the Celebutante Sister's giveaway of Physican's Formula entire line of Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Gel CreamLiners. 

 I immediately wondered if it was an awful April Fool's joke, but I think people would know that free make up is no laughing matter. 


Then during my 8 am evidence class, I got ANOTHER email saying I had one ANOTHER giveaway! WHOO HOO! I won The Traveling Twosome's Flirty Apron Giveaway (my choice of apron). 

I am a HUGE apron person and always wear one when I am cooking and baking. Because of that, I actually have 4 super cute Anthropologie aprons. BUT, I am hosting a wedding shower for a very close friend who recently has taken up cooking. I have already gotten her a kitchen-related gift, but who doesn't want more stuff?! So, but I picked out an apron I think she will like. I really hope I don't change my mind when I get the adorable thing in and decide I absolutely have to keep it! :)
